BREWS

The art of brewing is alive and well, with smaller breweries and beer enthusiasts helping to push America into a culture of better beer. The specialized approach on the mixture of hops, yeast, and grain have ushered in a golden era for perhaps the greatest beverage invented by man – BEER. Louder Than Life is proud to support beer entrepreneurship with a celebration of local breweries and specialized drafts hailing from throughout our great nation. Not to mention, there’s nothing that makes a shot of whiskey go down smoother than a good ol’ craft-brewed oat soda.

Falls City Beer

To answer an often-asked question, the New City is nothing like the Old City…at least not one that anyone alive today has ever tasted. The new Falls City Beer is an Extra Special English Pale Ale. It is a “session beer”, similar to the pale ale Falls City made back in the 1930’s. Falls City was Louisville’s original micro-brewery with several different varieties of beer (including a Pale Ale). We intend to continue that tradition and appeal to the palates of all types of beer enthusiasts with seasonal beers. For now, our only brew is a really nice ale which is full-bodied and well-balanced with a nice finish. It is less hoppy than typical American Pale Ales, so the third and fourth ones are just as much fun to drink as the first. So if you’re disappointed (or relieved) we’re “not like the old Falls City”, we are! -- just more like the really old Falls City.

goodwood

Goodwood Brewery

The gents behind Goodwood are three of Louisville’s longest-serving brewing veterans, running production breweries here since 2001. Now thrilled to branch off on its own, this splinter group of beer makers has rebooted its brewery around the success of its renowned product: BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout (now Goodwood Bourbon Barrel Stout). To that end, Goodwood’s "shade-grown beers" are all touched by the natural gradations of reclaimed casks and other wood types for flavorful expressions that are unique to Goodwood.

trooper

Iron Maiden: Trooper

Real ale fan and history aficionado Bruce Dickinson, Maiden’s vocalist, played a major role in developing the unique flavour of the beer, entailing ongoing visits to Robinson’s brewery in Stockport. “I’m a lifelong fan of traditional English ale; I thought I’d died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavour and texture that is TROOPER. I love it.”

new-albanian

New Albanian Brewing Company

NABC started brewing fresh, flavorful, award-winning beers in 2002, becoming New Albany’s first working brewery since 1935. Our original “R ‘n’ D” brewery can be viewed from the pizzeria’s dining room. Brewer Ben Minton brews seasonal recipes, specialties, one-off batches and tasty research experiments. Our main production brewery opened in 2009 and is located in the heart of downtown New Albany at 415 Bank Street. At BSB, David Pierce and Josh Hill brew, keg and bottle NABC’s biggest sellers and seasonals for both on-premise consumption and local distribution. Following are a handful of signposts on our journey from back then, until right now. We at NABC are longtime lovers of beer, food and pub culture. We live and love our working lives, and when you stop by, we hope you enjoy our world as much as we do.

west-sixth

West Sixth Brewing

West Sixth Brewing founders Ben, Brady, Joe, and Robin all came to the same conclusion at about the same time – Lexington, KY needs more high quality local craft beer. Since we came from very different backgrounds with diverse sets of experiences and talents, we joined forces to create beer that can be enjoyed not only by craft beer experts, but also by those who just want something tasty to drink after going for a bike ride.   Though we all got to this point in our lives in different ways, we strongly agree on West Sixth’s goals. We will provide a taproom and beer garden where the beer list is never the same but that is always local. We will be a brewery that measures its success not only by making great craft beer but also by how it helps our community. We will always strive to protect our environment even if it costs us more to do so. And last, but not least, we all share a desire to create the best beer possible and to be an integral part of building a great beer culture for our great town.
