The official page for Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, and more. We are the original craft brew of the bluegrass.
There’s bourbon. And then there’s divine inspiration painstakingly crafted into a spirit so sublime you’ll want to share it with the world. We make the second one. Angel’s Envy is what happens when 200 years of bourbon tradition meet an independent master craftsman’s instinct to improve. It’s a total return to the art of craft-first, hand blended batches of 8 to 12 barrels at a time. We personally taste every barrel throughout each step of the aging process to ensure that the spirits meet our perfectionist standards. This would be enough for any other premium bourbon, but we think you deserve more. That’s why we finish every one of our whiskeys in hand-selected finishing barrels. For an added layer of flavor and complexity, our bourbon and special cask strength are finished in ruby port casks, and our rye is finished in rum barrels. There’s no set time for this process. It’s only Angel’s Envy when we say it is.
In 1796, Master Distiller Basil Hayden Sr. broke ‘the rules’ by mixing small grains into the mash of a traditional corn base. A Maryland transplant unafraid to stand out amidst the residing establishment, Basil conjectured that the spicy flavor of rye would be a striking complement to the sweet smoothness of corn in his distillery’s standard bourbon. And much to the chagrin of the traditionalist set, Basil was right. His recipe was a masterpiece, resulting in a unique, singular small batch bourbon whiskey that was blessed with rich hints of peppermint, notes of pepper, slight citrus overtones, and a spicy, warming finish.
Named after the McAfee brothers who surveyed a site just north of Frankfort in the late 1700s, this rye recipe bourbon is yet another label that honors the storied history of the Distillery and the land it sits on.
BOSS HOG BBQ
“Da Boss Knows what’s good!” Try their famous slow smoked brisket or savory brined chicken.
Ancient buffalo carved paths through the wilderness that led American pioneers and explorers to new frontiers. One such trail led to the banks of the Kentucky River where Buffalo Trace Distillery has been making bourbon whiskey the same way for more than 200 years. In tribute to the mighty buffalo and the rugged, independent spirit of the pioneers who followed them, we created our signature Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Bulleit Bourbon is made with small-batch techniques inspired by those pioneered by Augustus Bulleit over 150 years ago. Only ingredients of the very highest quality are used. The subtlety and complexity of Bulleit Bourbon come from its unique blend of rye, corn, and barley malt, along with special strains of yeast and pure Kentucky limestone filtered water. Due to its especially high rye content, Bulleit Bourbon has a bold, spicy character with a finish that’s distinctively clean and smooth. Medium amber in color, with gentle spiciness and sweet oak aromas. Mid-palate is smooth with tones of maple, oak, and nutmeg. Finish is long, dry, and satiny with a light toffee flavor.

It takes years to make it as a Jimador. We’re the master harvesters that give our all in the pursuit of the art of gathering the Weber blue agave that goes into our tequila. Heart and soul, that’s what it takes to get the name–and it wasn’t earned easily.
In the field we stand: a band of dedicated jimadores. Our coas at the ready, carefully harvesting every plant, knowing – by eye – which are ready and which should be left for tomorrow. Our passion, fused with that of the master distillers is what makes the difference. Grit, dedication and spirit go into every drop, and that’s why it stands alone. Our hands, our hard work: the No. 1 Selling 100% agave tequila in Mexico.
Evan Williams is a smooth, easy to drink Bourbon named after Evan Williams who, in 1783, opened Kentucky’s first commercial distillery along the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, we’re still producing Bourbon with the same time-honored methods that Evan Williams did years ago.
FALLS CITY BEER
Falls City Brewing Co. re-opened in Louisville in 2010 with a passion for making great craft beer and a dedication to celebrating the rich brewing history of their home town. The folks at Falls City come from a variety of backgrounds, but they’ve joined together over similar beliefs and goals. They believe there is a beer for every occasion and a beer for every person. Most days, you can find them at their 7bbl brewery on 10th Street in downtown Louisville, crafting some of the finest beer in the bluegrass.
Only Four Roses handcrafts 10 distinct and extraordinary Bourbon recipes, then mingles them by hand to create our family of award-winning brands. Artistry such as this is how we survived Prohibition, The Great Depression, Two World Wars, and 40 years of exile from the US, only to be named American Whisky Distiller of the Year for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015 – four times in the last five years – by Whisky Magazine. Handcrafting this way may be a bit more time consuming, but one sip, and you’ll no doubt agree, it’s worth the extra effort.

Goodwood Brewing is a production brewery located in the heart of downtown Louisville. The brewery is dedicated to making beers that have been touched by wood; whether in reclaimed oak casks once used to house bourbon, red wine, and brandy or seasoned on oak, poplar or ash. Goodwood’s “shade-grown beers” are all touched by the natural gradations of reclaimed casks and other wood types for flavorful expressions that are unique to Goodwood. Just like the bourbon Kentucky is famous for, all of Goodwood’s beers begin with limestone water. The gents behind Goodwood are some of Louisville’s longest-serving brewing veterans, running production breweries here since 2001.

IRON MAIDEN: TROOPER
Real ale fan and history aficionado Bruce Dickinson, Maiden’s vocalist, played a major role in developing the unique flavour of the beer, entailing ongoing visits to Robinson’s brewery in Stockport.
“I’m a lifelong fan of traditional English ale; I thought I’d died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavour and texture that is TROOPER. I love it.”

We do things a little differently around here – and that’s what gives Jack Daniel’s its distinctive character. We charcoal mellow our whiskey drop by drop, then let it age in our own handcrafted barrels. And we don’t follow a calendar. Our Tennessee Sippin’ Whiskey is ready only when our tasters say it is. We use our senses, just like Jack Daniel himself did. In fact, more than a century later, our Tennessee Whiskey is still judged the same way. By the way it looks. By the way it smells. And, of course, by the way it tastes.
The reason Jim Beam® Bourbon is the world’s #1 Kentucky bourbon is because we’ve been at it for over 200 years. Seven generations of Beams have kept our secret bourbon-making process alive, while battling the wilds of Kentucky, the Great Depression, two wars, and a pesky little thing called Prohibition. Now you can see our 200 year legacy come to life, and sample our Kentucky bourbon, at the new American Stillhouse right here in Clermont, KY. Come as friends, leave as family.
JOELLA’S HOT CHICKEN
At Joella’s we live and breathe southern spirit. It’s about tradition, hard work and a deep bond of family. It’s about calling your momma on a whim, the beauty of sweet tea and where fried chicken is the best chicken. We honor these traditions by staying true to our roots with an obsession and creative flair of scratch cooking that brings out the original flavors of time-honored recipes.
THIS BIG FLAVOR HASN’T GONE ANYWHERE. The extra aging, longer than nearly every other small batch offering, allows our bourbon to absorb more of the sugar from the wood, giving it a richer taste. And treating our American white oak barrels with the highest char level brings out even more distinctive flavor qualities during the aging process. When it’s all done, we take our original Knob Creek Bourbon from barrel to bottle at an honest 100 proof, and our Single Barrel Reserve at 120 proof, just like it was done before prohibition.
From our hand-selected ingredients to our meticulous, inefficient process to the way we bottle and sell our bourbon, Maker’s Mark has always gone against the grain. Fact is, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
MERLE’S WHISKEY KITCHEN

Originally known as Shenk’s and later as Bomberger’s, the whiskey company which ultimately became known as Michter’s was founded by John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite farmer, in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania in 1753. In its earliest days, Shenk’s produced whiskey from rye grain, a favorite local crop in the Pennsylvania Blue Mountain Valley where the distillery was located. According to Pennsylvania historical lore, commemorated by the Lebanon Valley Coin Club in 1978, this particular rye whiskey was so valued that when the Revolutionary War broke out, General George Washington visited the distillery and purchased whiskey to fortify his men as they hunkered down in their camp through the long, brutal winter at Valley Forge. Over 200 years later the Michter’s Pennsylvania management would say Michter’s was “the whiskey that warmed the American Revolution.” In the mid-1800s, Pennsylvania Dutchman Abraham Bomberger purchased the distillery from the Shenk family, and the distillery became known for many decades as Bomberger’s. Today, Michter’s has two locations in Kentucky – a 65,000 square foot distillery in the Shively section of Louisville and, currently under renovation, the architecturally significant Fort Nelson Building in downtown Louisville.

WEST SIXTH BREWING
Founded in 2012, we’re a craft microbrewery located in a historic 100-year-old bakery called The Bread Box on West 6th Street in Lexington, Kentucky. We brew and can our beer out of that location, and it’s sold at bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and liquor stores throughout the state of Kentucky (and across the river in Cincinnati, OH). We pride ourselves on the beers that we make and the impact we have on the communities we’re a part of.
We focus our brewing talents on a wide variety of beers – we produce and can styles ranging from our flagship West Sixth IPA, to our Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter. In our taprooms in downtown Lexington, we have 15-20 West Sixth varieties on tap, along with occasional special bottle releases from our Sixfold and Barrel-aged series. Now a team of more than 40, we focus on brewing beers with quality and creativity that we’re proud to serve to our friends, and most importantly, that we like to drink!
That said, we measure our success as a company not just on the beer that we make, but also on our social impact in the communities we’re a part of. We support the direct work of nonprofits in our area through programs like our Pay it Forward program and 6th for a Cause. We are environmentally conscious in everything we do (did you know nationwide, 70% of aluminum is recycled and only 20% of glass is?). And finally, we strive to be an awesome place to work, offering discounted CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) benefits, paid volunteer hours, and employee ownership.
It starts when the Master Distiller selects the corn, rye, and barley malt for distilling. We only use the best ingredients at the Wild Turkey Distillery. Our specially grown sweet corn gives our bourbon its rich taste. Kentucky’s cold winters and warm summers mature our bourbon more quickly and improve its quality. We age Wild Turkey in new white oak #4 alligator char barrels. These have the heaviest (and most expensive) deep-layer alligator char, which gives our bourbons extra depth of flavor and that deep auburn color.
